DeTour 5: Banat Village Route
The route is intended for all those for whom the Big Banat Experience is too long. The detour from Itebej to Međa is 20 km long and can be skipped to shorten the tour. The loop itself is about 92.5 km long; the approach from the start and the spur to Međa are ridden in both directions. Part of the route follows regional road M7; the asphalt is of good quality and the road is signposted, but extra care is needed. From Žitište to Itebej the route uses a two-way cycle path that follows the Bega Canal for 15 km. The delicate part of the route is the earthen section between Hetin and Vojvoda Stepa (less than 5 km long), which is impassable after heavy rain. The recommended direction of travel is anticlockwise.
