What is EuroVelo?
EuroVelo is a network of 17 long-distance cycling routes that cross and connect the countries of Europe. These routes are used both by long-distance cycle tourists and by locals riding them every day.
EuroVelo 13 starts in Norway and reaches all the way to Turkey, stretching over 10,600 km. The route lets cyclists ride along the “Iron Curtain” — the border that divided Europe into East and West for almost half a century. It offers a living history lesson, reminding us that peace and reconciliation are now more necessary than ever.
With EuroVelo 13, the
wheel of history turns again in Timiș.
Over 170 km cross 24 localities of Timiș County, tracing a route of memory tied to the Iron Curtain era.
Along the route you will discover fascinating histories about the way of life of the people here, multicultural traditions, delicious food, the natural beauty of the Banat plain and true stories of courage, resistance, understanding and sacrifice.
