Roman Catholic Church in the Futok District: red-brick neo-Gothic church with a patterned spireHard

DeTour 1: The Big Banat Experience

158 km10 h 30 min

This is the longest route in the Tour de Banat network (160 km), so it is best split over two days. The detour from Itebej to Međa is 20 km long and can be skipped to shorten the tour. Between Hetin and Vojvoda Stepa the route has an earthen section about 5 km long. After heavy rain it can be bypassed via Banatsko Karađorđevo and Nova Crnja; the tour is then 11 km shorter, but less interesting. The route crosses the border between Romania and Serbia twice: from Foeni to Jaša Tomić, and from Srpska Crnja back to Jimbolia. Check the opening hours of both crossings before setting out and carry valid travel documents. Keep in mind that Romanian time is one hour ahead of Serbian time. The recommended direction of travel is clockwise.
