The bastion was built between 1730 and 1735 as part of the defensive wall of the old city of Timișoara. It is the only one of the nine bastions that has not been destroyed over time. It has the appearance of a fortified bastion, with a protective ditch and high walls on the outside. The interior of the bastion is used as a cultural space.
