Huniade Castle (Banat Museum) is the oldest building in Timișoara, as it was built between 1443 and 1447 by John Hunyadi on the ruins of an older castle from the 14th century. In the inner courtyard, the foundations of the stonework and of the walled tower were discovered, which are assumed to date from 1307–1314.
